3 Instagram Mistakes To Avoid

· Social Media

Is your Instagram account growth a bit...stagnant? Do you feel like you are stuck at the same figures no matter how much you post?

Well, it's probably due to one of three things. Let's let take a look, make a few little adjustments and get you growing!

1. No One Can See You (SEO)

Your content is great, but can people see you?

Your account needs to be searchable. There are only a few parts of Instagram that are SEO friendly, you need to know them and use them wisely.

Your goal here is that when your ideal client goes into the search bar within Instagram to find someone who provides your service, you pop up!

That means you need to know what words your ideal audience think of when looking for your services.

The two areas you need to focus on are your account name (also called your username or handle, the @ one). And secondly the 'name' section. A lot of people make the mistake of putting their actual name in there, but you need to instead put searchable key words to get your account found by the right people.

2. Goldie Locks Syndrome - You're Posting Too Much...Or Not Enough

You need to post consistent content, but what does that mean?

Well, it will depend on a few things:

-your niche

-your type of content

-your ability to post frequently!

If, for example, you have an account in the entertainment niche, you could probably post a few quick funny memes 2 or 3 times a day.

If the content you post is short and quick to consume, again, you can post a few times a day.

But if your account is more business like and you are educating your audience with posts that may require some time to read, then a few posts a day is too much for you to post and too much for your audience to consume.

You need to find the perfect content amount, and that may take some trial and error to find. As a guide, I tell my clients that if they are trying to actively grow their account as a business they should aim to post at least 4 times a week. A good amount is 4-5 posts a week. That will allow you to create high quality regular content without bombarding your audience with too many posts.

3. You're Not Being Human

Did you know that posting on Instagram is only half of what you need to be doing to grow?

Instagram is a social media platform, the emphasis being on the social element of it.

That means you need to put in time actively engaging in conversations with your audience.

But don't get overwhelmed! This is easier than you think, once you get into the groove of it.

Start by putting in 5 minutes a day to actively and thoughtfully engage with your audience and just see what happens.

Try these three steps today and your account will get unstuck and I think you will even start to enjoy your time on the platform more too!
